The 411 on RV Camping at Music Festivals
Music festivals are all the craze right now and happen across the country throughout the year. There are music festivals for almost every genre of music and likely one that would appeal to your taste. Most festivals are around three days and have a designated area for festival goers to camp out for the weekend. Depending on the festival, RV camping might also be available! If you’re new to the music festival lifestyle and plan to attend in your motorhome, we’ve got a few tips to help you make the most out of your experience.
How to Prepare
Summer is here and you’ve decided to experience your first music festival. If you’re planning to bring your RV, which we highly recommend, verify that the festival campgrounds do allow for motorhome camping.
It’s also important to verify that there are hookups or if its dry camping only. If dry camping is the only option, that will change the way you plan and prepare for your trip. If hookups are available you will want to inquire about the amount of AMPs available. Then you will want to identify (if you do not already know) how many AMPs are compatible with your RV. Check your RV owners manual if you are not sure.
Additionally, the parking spaces may be limited in size, so make sure you know the length of your motorhome and that it will fit. If you don’t own a motorhome yet, but want the upgraded camping experience, rent one through Happy Campers RV Rentals!
The Benefits of RV Camping
Music festivals tend to generate funds for local businesses, which may not always be conducive to your budget. It seems like you can either spend a fortune on a hotel room, that you will only use to sleep in, or you sacrifice your spine’s alignment and rough it in a tent. However, festival life in an RV is both budget-friendly and comfortable. After a long day of singing and dancing in the sun, returning to a cool, comfortable space is a must to recharge and refresh before going out and doing it again.
Home is your sanctuary away from it all, and you can think of your motorhome as your portable sanctuary. The highlights- you have your own bathroom and shower, so you can avoid the public outhouses and portable showers (probably the least glamorous part of festival life). We recommend the Tiffin Wayfarer as the ideal festival RV. This Class C motorcoach is compact yet sophisticated and ready for any adventure.
Food and beverage costs can sometimes sneak up on you, especially when bottled water is $6. We recommend bringing most of your food and drinks from home and storing them in your RV. That way, if you have any dietary restrictions you can rest easy knowing you’ve brought food from home. In an RV, you have your own mobile kitchen and fridge, allowing you to prep, cook and store food conveniently, saving you money over the course of the weekend.
Make a game plan
The festival tickets have been purchased and now it’s time to get your RV ready (or reserved with Happy Campers!) Every great plan begins with a checklist, so grab a pen and paper and make a list of all the essentials you’ll need for the weekend and download our “Pre-Trip Inspection Checklist” to prep your RV. For example, if it’s a summer festival in the desert, make sure to check that your AC unit and generator are functioning properly!
Summer is just getting started and the peak season for music festivals is amping up! We encourage you to explore all the different festival options out there and attend one to see what it’s all about! Who knows, you might get hooked and make it a tradition to go every year.
Look out for Beaver Coach Sales and Happy Campers RV Rentals at local Oregon music festivals throughout the summer. The first is 4 Peaks Music Festival happening here in Bend, followed by LRS Country Music Fest the first weekend of July, and the Oregon Jamboree in August. We hope to see you there!
