How to Disinfect Your RV During COVID-19
During this time of COVID-19 it is important to disinfect and keep your RV clean. Use these tips from KOA and the CDC to disinfect your RV.
Tip 1: Glove Up & Grab the Paper Towels
DON’T SKIP THIS SIMPLE STEP. Use gloves while cleaning and disinfecting your RV. Then thoroughly wash your hands when you’re done.
Use disposable products like paper towels instead of mops or sponges. Existing items could be harboring germs you’re trying to avoid.
Tip 2: Clean
There is a difference between simple cleaning & disinfecting. Use soap and water to remove dirt, germs, and impurities. This won’t kill germs, but lowers the risk of infection. Pay attention to high touch surfaces like tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, faucets, and sinks.
Tip 3: Disinfect
Once everything has been cleaned, you need to disinfect. Use a suggested surface disinfectant, a diluted bleach solution or an alcohol solution with at least 70% alcohol.

Keep in mind:
- You’ll need to leave solution on surfaces for a certain point of time (Follow specific instructions on solution label)
- If you make a homemade bleach solution use 5 tablespoons (1/3 cup) bleach per gallon of water
Tip 4: Don't Forget Soft Surfaces
Clean as many of your soft surfaces as possible. Think upholstery, drapes, and carpet. Use list for the best products to clean soft surfaces:

When possible, launder items using the hottest possible water. And don’t forget to wash all RV bedding still using gloves and trying not to shake dirty laundry.
Tip 5: Electronics Should Be Cleaned Too
We forget about some of the objects we use the most, cellphones, GPS, and Tablets. These high touch items can be especially germy. The electronic manufacturer will have suggested cleaning methods listed in manuals or online. If you cannot find these to follow, use alcohol based wipes or sprays that contain at least 70% alcohol.
